The Position
Reporting to a divisional executive, the Mortgage Banking Services Director will provide industry expertise to North American clients and prospects, and act as a subject matter expert in the development of technical solutions. The role is multi-faceted and involves working directly with clients in ascertaining needs and with internal groups, including sales and product groups in developing solutions.
In fulfilling the role, the successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of the mortgage lending industry and more specifically, a strong understanding of the end-to end-processes, including credit submission, adjudication, collateral management, and approval. In addition, the Mortgage Banking Services Director will be familiar with industry Best Practices that includes regulatory and risk management standards.
Specific responsibilities & accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct client needs analyses to determine potential opportunities;
- Work closely with Sales, Product Management and Client Services in the development of client solutions to facilitate customer service;
- Develop detailed business and functional requirements for specific product enhancements;
- Contribute and/or review the content associated with RFI/RFP responses;
- Enhance profile and create awareness of the organization’s capabilities through active participation in industry associations, and initiate and facilitate company- sponsored seminars and workshops;
- Assist in the transition of successful sales to the client service team and conduct mid-project reviews through client feedback;
- Provide and/or lead the development and management of solution documentation including sales & marketing messaging and training tools;
- Conduct internal training sessions to transfer knowledge to other members of the company.
The Candidate
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have a university degree in business or computer science and will have worked for 5 years in mortgage lending. This experience will have included acting in an internal or external advisory capacity in the past. An in-depth understanding of end-to-end lending processes and how they relate to delivering complex solutions is a distinct asset. A strong technical background with product delivery experience is highly valued, and should be complemented with the willingness to travel.
In fulfilling this role, the Mortgage Banking Services Director will have strong communication, presentation, and problem solving skills, and will be adept at establishing senior client relationships. Moreover, this individual will accept personal accountability for his/her success, yet be capable of effectively working through others. Accordingly, this individual will be collaborative and extremely self-motivated.
